John FieldJohn killed Dave Cutler, Debbie Shortlands, Simon Reason and Owen August while casting them as figures in the 1950s world of his manuscript. His final attack on WPC Jay Nash was interrupted and remains an attempted murder.
Verified motive
John cast the victims into a distorted 1950s world centred on his mother: Dave preyed on women, Debbie rejected the role he chose for her, Simon was an adulterer, and Owen rejected John's manuscript and everything it represented. He attacked Jay after she rejected the place he wanted her to take in that fantasy.
